New National Research on the Impact of Transportation Consistency

The 99.99% Standard: How EverDriven Prioritizes Accident Prevention

Two young girls sit in the back seat of a car, smiling, with one wearing headphones and seatbelt.

When it comes to student transportation, safety isn’t just a checkbox—it’s the baseline for everything we do. That’s why EverDriven is proud to report a 99.99% accident-free rate across more than 2 million trips completed between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.

These insights come directly from our Safety and Operations Report—a data-driven look at how EverDriven sets the standard for student safety, transparency, and accountability in Alternative Student Transportation.

But what does that number really mean? And more importantly, how do we achieve it?

Defining Safety: What Counts as an “Accident”?

At EverDriven, we take a comprehensive and transparent approach to incident classification. An “accident” is defined as any instance where a vehicle containing passenger(s) strikes another vehicle or object—regardless of severity or injury.

By setting the bar high in how we define and report incidents, we give school districts and families a clear, honest look at the safety of our operations. With more than 2 million trips completed, 99.99% were entirely free of incidents, illustrating the extraordinary consistency and care built into our operations.

“There’s nothing we’re prouder of than our safety record. It is our motivation every day— to aim higher, support more kids, and give them the safe school transportation experience they each deserve.”
Adam Warner, VP of Operations and Head of Safety

What Makes That Possible?

Achieving and maintaining this level of safety requires more than luck—it requires systems, training, technology, and relentless attention to detail. Here’s how we do it:

Unrelenting Compliance Standards

Our compliance team ensures we meet our own rigorous safety protocols and compliance with applicable Department of Education, federal, and state regulations for student transportation.

  • Commercial-grade insurance that allows us to support every student
  • Demonstrated compliance for partnering school district
  • Adherence to the physical, administrative, and technical safeguards to secure student data

EverDriven’s operational standards align with 100% of applicable state-level mandates and Department of Education regulations for small-capacity vehicles.

Comprehensive Driver Vetting

Our driver and monitor vetting protocol is exhaustive and includes regular follow-ups in addition to initial, comprehensive assessments.

  • Premium Driver Screenings: pre-service drug testing; multi-layered background checks, including the National Sex Offender Registry; and motor vehicle record reviews
  • Random and post-accident drug testing for drivers as well as ongoing DMV and criminal monitoring
  • 13 screening requirements for monitors, including criminal background checks and drug testing

100% of drivers completed pre-service drug testing; multi-layered background checks, including the National Sex Offender Registry; and motor vehicle record reviews.

Safe Vehicles

Safe student transportation starts with safe vehicles. One inspection is not enough to guarantee vehicle safety. We believe in due diligence and building accountability with a multi-step process.

  • 50-point annual safety inspection, which includes ramp and lift equipment for relevant vehicles
  • Additional annual inspection by a third-party mechanic
  • Automated pre-trip texts to drivers, requiring confirmation that they conducted a 15-point daily inspection of the interior and exterior of the vehicle, as well as daily cleaning and disinfection
  • Random safety checks on vehicles at the discretion of local operation teams

100% of vehicles completed annual safety inspections by a certified third party.

Best-In-Class Driver Education and Safety

We designed a first-of-its-kind driver education course in partnership with the School Bus Safety Company and experts in transportation safety to improve driver and monitor performance. This comprehensive course, specific to Alternative Student Transportation, includes details on safe driving practices, defensive driving, and sensitivity to student needs.

  • An education course, which includes six modules and a 40-question final exam, taken semiannually
  • An English proficiency test
  • Blue EverDriven vests and ID badges for drivers, and clear identification for vehicles

100% of drivers completed ongoing education in safety protocols, defensive driving, and sensitivity practices for students with unique needs.

Local Oversight and Support

When challenges arise—bad weather, roadwork, or last-minute changes—school district staff and families can always reach a real person. Personalized support from caring, competent local teams is key to following through on our purpose, safely.

  • A Denver-based call center available for school district staff, administrators, and families
  • A local point person on the operations team for school districts, who they can reach on a direct line
  • Drivers who prioritize the comfort of students

99.6% of trips ran smoothly, with no concerns reported by families or districts.

A Culture of Prevention

From executive leadership to client success teams, our focus is always forward-looking. We leverage industry-leading technology to raise the status quo, heightening safety precautions and transparency.

  • Smart routing around high-traffic areas, construction zones, and closed roads
  • Real-time student tracking for families, staff, and administrators using the EverDriven VIP app
  • Our Camera Solution captures internal and external views of the vehicle with audio and high-resolution video

Why It Matters

A 99.99% accident-free rate isn’t just a number—it’s a direct reflection of the systems, people, and values that make EverDriven a trusted partner in Alternative Student Transportation.

For school districts, it means fewer disruptions to learning, fewer incident reports to manage, and greater confidence in their transportation strategy. It supports higher attendance, reduces liability, and strengthens community trust in district operations.

For families, it means peace of mind. Parents and caregivers can send their children to school each day knowing they’ll arrive safely and on time. In many cases, that trust can be the difference between a child attending school regularly—or not at all.

For students, it means consistency. Especially for those with disabilities, experiencing homelessness, or facing other challenges, a safe, stable ride to school is foundational to their well-being. It’s not just transportation—it’s access to education, stability, and opportunity.

For the education system as a whole, it’s proof that student transportation can be modernized, measured, and improved—without compromising safety.

That’s why EverDriven doesn’t just track safety metrics. We build an infrastructure that makes safety inevitable—trip after trip, student after student.
